
Dobson, NC- Surry swept Central Carolina in three sets on Thursday evening in Region X volleyball action. The Knights captured the first set, 25-14 behind the solid front line play of Summer Robertson. The freshman middle hitter led the Knights offense with six kills and four aces. Robertson (left) also finished with five blocks and one dig. Surry took the second set from the Cougars, 25-8, and captured the match, 25-9, in the third set. Kara Hodges recorded fourteen assists for the Knights to go along with two kills, two blocks, three digs and an ace. Brittany Tolbert and Sara Parker each notched four kills while Amber Owens added three. Defensively, Taylor Moxley paced Surry with twelve digs while Alyssa Parker added four. ‘We received solid play from several young ladies tonight,” commented Surry coach, Jan Marion-Kiser. “We were able to get everyone some much needed playing time especially with two more games in the next two days.” The Lady Knights return to action on Friday as they travel to Wytheville Community College to face the Wildcats in a 4 pm contest. Surry (6-1) returns home on Saturday to face Virginia Western. All campers that attended the Surry volleyball camp this summer will be recognized. “We are hoping to have many of our summer camp participants at Saturday’s game,” added Marion-Kiser. “We would like to recognize them and show our appreciation for attending camp.” Game time for Saturday is set for 3 pm and admission is free. |
