Surry Volleyball Rallies Past Wake Tech

 

 

 

Alyssa Parker contributed twelve digs against Wake Tech

Dobson, NC- Surry staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Wake Tech, 3-1, in Region X volleyball action on Tuesday afternoon.  The Lady Knights trailed 15-6 in the fourth set, but outscored the visiting Eagles, 19-7 to capture the match.  Surry took game one, 25-23, before Wake Tech evened the match in the second set, 25-23.   The Lady Knights raced out to a 12-1 lead in the third set before finishing off the Eagles, 25-12.  “We did a great job of battling back after a tough second set and also being down in the fourth set,” stated Surry coach Jan Marion-Kiser.  “Wake Tech has a very good team.  They are very solid defensively, and really serve well.  We had a solid performance from our entire team.  I was really pleased with our effort tonight.” 

Summer Robertson and Brittany Tolbert led the Surry offense with twelve kills while Sara Parker added nine kills.  Kara Hodges dished out 34 assists while Parker and Tori Nelson each recorded a service ace.  Defensively, Taylor Moxley led the Lady Knights with 27 digs while Parker added 17.  Nelson also added 14 digs while Alyssa Parker contributed twelve.  Amber Owens (left) led Surry with six blocks while Robertson added four. 

Surry (18-3) returns to action on Monday hosting Guilford Tech at 6 pm in another Region X conference game.  The Lady Knights then host Wytheville on Wednesday and Catawba-Valley on Thursday.  Both games are scheduled for a 6 pm start in the college gym.
