Wentworth, NC- The Surry volleyball team fell to Cape Fear in the semi-finals of the Region X volleyball tournament.  The Sea Devils took the match, 3-0, by scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-13.  “We never really got anything going offensively,” stated Surry coach Jan Marion-Kiser.  “You have to give Cape Fear credit, they played extremely well.”

Summer Robertson led Surry with twelve kills while Brittany Tolbert added eight kills.  Kara Hodges led the Lady Knights with 27 assists.  Defensively, Taylor Moxley and Sara Parker each recorded 22 digs while Alyssa Parker added eleven digs.  Robertson notched three blocks to lead Surry. 

The Lady Knights advanced to face Cape Fear in the semi-finals by knocking off Brunswick in four sets, 3-1.  Offensively, Sara Parker notched 16 kills with Summer Robertson adding 14 kills.  Both Amber Owens and Brittany Tolbert each recorded eight kills.  Setter Kara Hodges dished out 44 assists while also contributing four kills and seven digs.  Taylor Moxley led the Surry defense with 24 digs with Sara Parker adding 15 digs.  Amber Owens notched four blocks to lead the Lady Knights.

“Obviously we are disappointed about coming up short in our quest for a Region X volleyball championship,” added Marion-Kiser.  “However, we have had a tremendous season, and I could not be more proud of these girls.”  The Lady Knights finished the season with an overall record of 25-5.
