Dobson, NC- Surry continued its strong volleyball play against Rockingham and New River. On Thursday, the Lady Knights defeated New River, 3-0. Surry took game one, 25-5, before capturing the second set, 25-8. The Lady Knights finished off the match, 25-6, in the third set. Summer Robertson (left) and Brittany Tolbert led Surry with seven kills while Laura Martin recorded five kills. Kara Hodges led the Lady Knights dishing out 34 assists while adding three kills and five aces. Sara Parker led Surry defensively with nine digs while Taylor Lookabill and Taylor Moxley added eight digs each. Tori Nelson also added six services aces for the Lady Knights. “Everyone contributed this week for us,” commented Surry coach Jan Marion-Kiser. “We have a lot of depth and some very versatile players.” On Wednesday, Surry traveled to Region X foe, Rockingham. The Lady Knights took game one, 25-13 behind strong play from Brittany Tolbert and Kara Hodges. In the second set, Surry held off the Eagles, 25-17, for a 2-0 lead. The Lady Knights then captured the match in the third set, 25-13. Tolbert led Surry with seven kills while adding nine digs, and two aces while Hodges notched six kills while dishing out 20 assists. Defensively, Taylor Lookabill led the Lady Knights with 17 digs while Hayley Shore added nine. Lookabill also notched a team high four service aces. Surry, 17-1, returns home on Tuesday facing Wake Tech. at 4 pm.
