Samantha Tarleton, senior and softball pitcher at West Forsyth High School, signed a letter of intent to play for the Surry Knights for the 2010-2011 season.

“We are thrilled with the addition, not only to our pitching staff, but our team. I look for Samantha to be an asset to our program as she is very motivated toward her goals and on top of that has a great attitude toward the game.” says Head Softball Coach Amber Reid.

Surry Community College added the softball program in 2009. The inaugural team finished 4th in the conference tournament and added two players to the All Region Teams at the end of the season.

This season hopes to be another success story for the new program as they return five of the starters from last year, as well as, added six girls from the local service area of Surry and one from Davidson County.

“We hope to continue to build this program with girls from our service area as well as surrounding areas where softball talent is rich.” states Coach Reid. "Samantha represents the beginning of that process as we strive to extend our name and reputation to coaches in other service areas."
