SCC Athletes Holding Food Drive December 5

As part of its ongoing dedication to community service projects, the Surry Community College student-athletes are taking part in a food drive to benefit the hungry.

The athletic teams will collect non- perishable food items at the annual Dobson Christmas Parade held on Saturday, December 5 beginning at 1 pm.

The food drive, titled “Cans from Fans” will continue in the campus gym through Friday, December 11.

All food collected will be donated to needy families as part of the Surry County Sheriff’s Department’s Christmas food Drive held on Saturday, December 12.

For the second consecutive year, the Surry student-athletes will partner with the Sheriff’s Department to assist families in need by delivering food throughout the community.

“These are difficult times for many families, and our community needs our help more than ever,” stated Surry athletic director Mark Tucker.

“Food pantry shelves continue to run low on supplies, and donations are greatly appreciated. We hope to see everyone at the Dobson Christmas Parade, and remember to bring your canned food items.”
