Tom Pendergraft serves as Head Coach of the Knights' Golf team. Entering his sixth year at Surry, Pendergraft brings over twenty years of golf instruction to the table, along with over forty five years of play. In addition to course instruction through college classes, Pendergraft has given private lesson to more than one hundred areas golfers, including several that have captured state and regional tournament championships. Pendergraft has managed two golf courses and served as a marshal at Pinehurst Golf Course during PGA play. A retired First Sergeant in the United States Army, Pendergraft has coached several other sports including Little League baseball and basketball. Born in Smithfield, North Carolina, Pendergraft has lived in Dobson for the past twenty-three years. He and his wife, Susan, have two sons, Thomas and Austin.
Zim Zimmerman is the PGA Professional/General Manager at Cedarbrook Country Club in Elkin, North Carolina. He is a native of Morganton, North Carolina and the son of William and Susan Zimmerman. Zim came to Cedarbrook in July of 1982. He has been at the helm of Cedarbrook through the building of a new club house and the purchase of the golf course and has been a PGA member since 1981. Zim attended Garner-Webb University where he was named an All-American in 1975 and 1976, as well as All-District 26 in 1975. He played on the 1975 golf team that finished third in the nation as well as the 1976 and 1977 teams that won Gardner-Webb’s only two national titles. He was a captain on both national title teams. Zim is a member of the Gardner-Webb University Athletic Hall of Fame and a member of the PGA Quarter Century Club. He is married to Debra Grady Zimmerman and they have one son, Taylor Zimmerman.
